Saw your post about digital signatures and infopath forms here (http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=1166283&SiteID=1). Having the same problem. Did you ever figure out how to fix it?

    Thanks

    Chris

  • Henry says:

Hey Chris, thanks for dropping by. I haven’t been able to figure that out. The problem seems to go away by installing anything from Office 2007 even if you don’t install Infopath 2007. I think Microsoft put that hook in to force us to buy Office 2007. Bastards…

    Hi henry,

I am also useing the same Group Boad Workspace Template which you have suggested to Mattaeo, Rest of the things are working fine but the only problem is .. it is not generation mail to informe the attendees after finishing the wizard. I can set alerts which is firing the mail but this should be automatic after finishing the wizard insted of manually setting the alter for the same.

Please suggest and reply on this.

    Kind Regards…
    - Rahul Janghel.

    Hey Rahul,

I forgot what I had mentioned about the Group Board Workspace to Matteo, do you have a link to the original discussion? Could you elaborate on which wizard you’re utilizing?

    Hi

I was looking at your post on restore of sites showing as 0.

    Scenario.:
    WebApp1 – ( SiteColl1 uses SC1_DB content databases )

Now you backup SC1_DB and restore is again as SC2_DB.

Now you remove SC1_DB from SiteColl1. You will see SiteColl1 has 0 sites.

    To correct it :
    1. Do a “Remove Content DB ” of SC1_DM.
    2. Do a “Remove Content DB ” of SC2_DM.
    3. Now “Add Content DB” SC2_DB to WebApp1. You should be able to see all sites.

    Hi Henry,

I’m currently working on converting web parts created in SharePoint 2 to ver 3 here in the Philippines.

One of the web part is used for creating new item in the list. It can get the values of the fields either in an uncustomized or customized form. It also has an option of copying the new item to another list after the item is saved in the current list. Saving is done via coding and not using the standard sharepoint save toolbar.

This web part is working when used in the newform.aspx page. All expected features are working fine.
However, when you try to make a copy of this newform.aspx with web part included to a new file, then run that new copy, an unexpected error occurred.

I even attached the debugger into this process but to no avail. The error wont hook onto the breakpoint that I’ve set on the entry point for the web part.

So, I modified the web.config file to see the actual error sharepoint is giving me and this is what it says:

    Server Error in ‘/’ Application.
    ——————————————————————————–

Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.

Exception Details: System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

    Source Error:

An unhandled exception was generated during the execution of the current web request. Information regarding the origin and location of the exception can be identified using the exception stack trace below.

    Stack Trace:

Version Information: Microsoft .NET Framework Version:2.0.50727.3053; ASP.NET Version:2.0.50727.3053

What I cant figure out is that all fields have a value and the code was able to reference it and yet there’s an issue of object reference not set to an instance..

I tried to limit the fields in the list and I’ve used single text, dateonly and datetime fields.

There was no problem if I leave the datetime field blank. The web part saves the new item as expected. Touching the datetime field will produce the error above.

So, I’d like to consult this with you if ever you’ve experience or know something that there’s an issue with using datetime field with web part. If so what’s the recommended solution.

Another odd thing about this is that sharepoint can save the new item if i remove the web part and I cant debug the error using this web part.

    More power to you.

    Best regards,
    Rowel

Hey Henry, just letting you know that your blog theme is a bit distorted in IE6. As much as I’d like to be viewing your site with something newer/better, my employer isn’t ready to upgrade yet. I thought I’d let you know because it makes things a little difficult to read sometimes. Thanks!!

    Hi Henry,

I found your SharePoint blog on Google and wanted to ask you to review a new SharePoint WordPress theme we created at SharepointForMe.com. It’s styled to look just like SharePoint 2010. Please feel free to take a look at the demo at

    http://www.sharepointforme.com/wordpress-templates/sharepointforme/

We know that there are a lot of SharePoint enthusiasts who read your blog and use WordPress to blog about SharePoint, so we thought it would be of use. We would love to see some blog posts about it, but any feedback on it is also appreciated. Have a great day!

    Dear Henry,

We have created small but very useful (I think) tool for all SharePoint users.

This is Windows desktop gadget which will enable you to monitor your favorites SharePoint Lists. You will be notified when the new element is created or when the element is modified. You will be able also to see the content of the monitored lists (when the gadget is expanded).

The gadget is available here: http://www.datapolis.com/en/sharepointgadget/sharepointlist.html

  • I can’t get enough of your blog, you are an excellent writer!

  • Dear Mr. Henry Ong,

I have been an avid follower of your blog and marveled at your accomplishments. Joanna, a close friend of mine for eight years, sent me a link to this blog since she felt it would be a good resource to me and my career path. A few years later after departing to Cal Poly SLO, I still don’t understand the extent of SharePoint knowledge you have, but it is incredible and admirable. I am personally trying to go for MCM/MCITP and just viewing the 70-680 test seems pretty hard…. but hopefully I will accomplish a fraction of what you have accomplished already through hard work.
Joanna has also said that you are an affiliate with Microsoft? I currently made it to the final round of SDET interviews and will be having an on-campus interview within the Silicon Valley Branch the third week of January. I am extremely excited and blessed that I have such opportunity and am finishing up both “How To Move Mt. Fuji” and “How We Test Software at Microsoft” books. Is there any advice you can personally give me in preparation for the interview?
You’re an inspiration to me, Mr. Ong, and following your blog makes me invigorated and motivated to keep studying as computer knowledge is so vast and there’s so much more to learn. I look forward to hear from you soon and I wish you a happy and safe holidays.

    Sincerely,
    John Jae Woo Lee

    • Henry says:

Hey John, I’m flattered by your message. As far as tips for your interview – just be yourself, but if that doesn’t work, then I’ve heard the following may bode you well :)

      - Be humble, if you don’t know something there’s nothing wrong with saying so.

      - Have deep knowledge of something. It’ll help show your passion.

      - Show them how you can figure stuff out on your own. I hate working with people who box themselves into a comfort zone and never try to learn more.

      - Be happy you made it that far and let it show. =)

Good luck and let us know how it goes!
